Hi, I'm Felicia. I'm a photographer, food stylist as well as the author of the food blog Dish by Dish, where personal stories intertwine with simple, healthy recipes (most of which are gluten-free or grain-free).
Born and raised in Singapore, I moved to Buenos Aires for love when I was 25, where I've been since April 2010. When I'm not in my kitchen, behind the lens or typing away at my laptop, I can be found reading a good story and sipping a steeping hot mug of tea.
My photography aims to capture the beauty of food in all the different stages using solely natural light - from the raw produce at the farmer's markets, to the mise en place prepared just before cooking begins, the process of cooking, and eventually, the final dish. I am most inspired by the vibrant colors, beautiful shapes and textures of nature's freshest produce. I try to capture food in its essence, the joy that comes with preparing and partaking of it, and the importance of food in our lives.
I seek to use the balance of colors, a blend of textures and varying shapes in my styling to bring interest to my photos. Whether the curly edges of fresh kale leaves or the smooth supple skin of a summer peach, I try to combine and complement, and love to use both modern and rustic in the same frame. I prefer to use natural elements like wood or marble, in order to allow the food I'm shooting to stand out.
I write to convey ideas, feelings and thoughts that need to be expressed, and I write to impact people as positively as I can. I believe in the power of the written word, so I use it as well as I can.
